Best Vpn for home use

I'm in the market for a vpn service provider.

Expressvpn seems to be the one I'm looking at.

Are there any other vpn providers out there worth looking at.

Can anyone then recommend a router that is capable of running a vpn setup to cover all my devices at home.

Depends on your router.
Most devices will support PPTP

For OpenVPN/etc I suggest pfSense as your firewall.

You say it depends on my router. What router would you suggest?

I am looking for a vpn service primarily for anonymity. Torrents and Streaming. I know expressvpn allows for streaming and still unblock netflix.

Just need a suggestion on a router capable of vpn setup.

I currently have a telkom plain Jane router. No vpn capability available.
 
Get an older computer with two NIC'S. Install PFSENSE, and use that. I use to run Mikrotik's , but decided to try PFsense. Pfsense is very good.
 
I've found many routers don't have VPN clients built in.

Since I'm an ASUS fan, these do.

RT-N66U, RT-AC56U, RT-AC66U, RT-AC68U, RT-AC87U, RT-AC5300, RT-AC3200, RT-AC3100, RT-AC1750, RT-AC88U, RT-AC66R, RT-AC55U

You don't even need two NICS. Physical connection will be your LAN, and a PPPOE connection will be WAN.

You don't need it. Cheap dsl modem in bridge mode. So physically, connect your DSL modem to your lan in bridge mode, as well as your pfSense box. Set pfsense to use the single NIC as the lan port, then configure pppoe for the wan, which will be a virtual interface.
 
Firewall may be nice, but it's an extra box.

Prefer not to sponsor Eskom any further if router can do basic VPN.

Our DrayTek routers support LAN-to-LAN VPNs, which allows you to establish a VPN like this one for your whole network, rather than needing to connect it on each device.
Along with the DrayTek routers user-friendly Route Policy feature, you can then choose to route only certain traffic over the VPN.

Give a shout if I can add any more info for the solution.
 
any suggestions on the best place to buy a router that has a vpn client, preferably with something like expressvpn already installed?
 
ive tried expressvpn, they work great, support is top notch too.

tunnelbear worked nice too also good support.

make sure the router VPN is not device to device only, or requires specialised product software to connect to it..

what router are you using - and could you set up everything from your settings page or did it require some "technical" tweaking?

i am asking as i am not too clued up on making technical tweaks and adjustments

i used the software clients downloaded from their website. run the software, do what ever.

the routers i had at the time did not allow these type of external VPN configurations, only router to router or manufacturer client VPN software to router.


edit: it seems mrdraytek says you can configure their equipment to do this, im not sure though. draytek are very good routers.
