So recently I have been considering going the VPN route. I have been looking at Private Internet Access but was wondering if there was a different one that is more high;y recommended.

I don't do a whole lot on the internet, however there are some sensitive things that get sent from me to the boss at work etc. I would rather have an overkill setup than leave us exposed.

Why don't you let your boss provide the VPN, sounds silly that you have to pay for something which your company uses (assuming you go the paid VPN route).

If you're going to use a VPN between the two of you, one of you needs a static IP, or a dyndns type of account.

Err, maybe I was a bit unclear there. My bad.

Boss is a total technology idiot. It has taken me over a month just to get him to be able to use Outlook to receive mail. I am still working on the sending mail option with him.

He is paying for it, but I need to set it up. We are a very small operation, so it will be easier on all concerned if the boss and myself have a paid for VPN and use that when sending stuff to each other. I really cannot justify putting together everything for us to have our own in house setup, not when PIA is around 60 usd a year. Not so much the cost I cannot justify, but the time it would take to set it up and to then train the boss on everything.

PIA is just an app he launches before he opens his mail so it wont take long to get the boss to use it.

What type of connection do you have at your business? If it's dynamic IP, set it up using dyndns.com, it will update the ip every time it changes, just use the url instead. You're going to have to have either the router (that supports it) or one of the machines in the office to set up to connect to.

Why not use dropbox, its all encrypted, if its the content you want to secure. If its your actual connection to the internet you want secured then yes VPN is probably what you need. I believe (havent done it myself) you can encrypt your emails directly in outlook between the 2 of you, so no need for a VPN either if this is your goal.
