Never tried VR and it seems they aren't to expensive.
Which VR headset is good bet for an S4?
I see on Gumtree you can easily find a like new SAMSUNG GEAR VR for R500-R800

What actually separates a good VR headset from a schit one, the Google ones are made out of cardboard? :crylaugh:

Samsung website says the GEAR VR is only compatible with:
Galaxy S7, S7 edge,
Note5, S6 edge+, S6, S6 edge

Not the best videos on the two products. HTC is also working on new controllers… There are other upcoming VR products, and then there is Sony PlayStation VR.

I took my daughter to "Cotton-On" clothing shop this morning. If you buy anything from the shop, you can get a new in the box VR Headset for R 100.00. Most phones up to 5.7" fits inside - I tried my Samsung Note 4 in there (5.5") and it fit perfectly

I'm not really into that stuff so I never tried it - she was buying a t-shirt for her boyfriend and when she saw the VR headset deal she got one of those too, to add to the present.

What are the videos of?

Video #1 is the HTC Vive with old controllers (new controllers coming whenever).
Video #2 is the Oculus Rift with the long awaited for controllers. There is a catch with the sensor system though…

Shot. I'm sending my wife past on her way home.

How much is the minimum spend to be able to get a vr for R100?

But thats probably just a glorified Google cardboard, whichapparently are just a proof of concept novelty, nice once or twice then bleh.

The Samsung gear is apparently very good, but Vr drives your phone so hard that 30mins of use and the phone can start over heating?

That overheating must be as a result of Vr games/3d, not video Vr content on YouTube etc?

What is the YouTube Vr like?

The great thing about the Google Cardboard option is that it's probably the cheapest way to experience VR on your phone. You can make your own one out of cardboard. Instructions are here (you need to scroll down a bit). I think the most expensive items you would need would be the lenses (I am guessing here).

While Google Cardboard is getting replaced with a new headset, I wouldn't bash it.

I don't think there is a minimum spend. It's certainly no Google cardboard - it looks just like the Samsung one, but obviously won't be quite as good as the Samsung one.

The store I went to said I must go ahead and open the box, slip the phone in before buying. So you can try before you buy.

It may look like a Samsung gear but it will probablybe a dumb device like the cardboard, the Gear has all kinds of buttons/touchpad/communicates with the phone etc.

There's no minimum spend. Remember it's essentially an Australian store. In Aus they are running the same promo with the VR set going for 15AUD.

The item in question looks to be similar to the ones retailing at MTN for R349.

Doesn't look too bad but it doesn't look like it can hold a very big phone though and the star rating is poor.
