Best way to hide cables?

Busy sorting out the cabling for my new place and am wondering what is the best way to conceal all the wires? I've got a HD-PVR feeding another standard decoder as well as two network cables running from a hole from a hole in the corner of the lounge roof to the centre wall. What is the best option? I had white trunking at my old place and while it served the purpose it didn't look that nice. I want to know if anyone supplies kickerboard which has like a wood vineer on top?

I used an angle grinder (mind the dust!), cut some lines in the wall, put wires in, then polyfilla the lines, all good :-)

That's a good start but ideally you want to create a groove/channel big enough to take a pvc conduit with your wires in it. The conduit you cement/plaster into place followd by a bit of cleaning/polyfilla & paint. Outlet box sunk into the wall with connectors would also be cool.

If one can do a decent job, keeping it hidden in the wall / ceiling looks the best
