If your budget is R6500, better go for any i5 Laptop with the most RAM you can get (anything over 4GB).

I wouldn't get the machine that you mention. Is a Celeron 1.5ghz. Is going to crash even before you open Photoshop. (Also is through Laptop Direct that is ComX in Centurion. I have bad experiences with them. I highly NOT recommend them).

A decent tablet with windows 8 is going to cost you over R10000. I tested the Gigabyte slate that is around R6000 and it was a piece of sh*t. It overheat very easily, the resolution was bad, and the screen was very dim (even at maximum brightness).

Now, I have tested the Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 and the Lenovo Helix. Wow. Those two machines are great. Expensive, yes, but are really good. Great resolution and performance, no overheating and extremely light.

If you want to go the cheap route, try to test the machine first. Ask the supplier if they can arrange a test before you buy. The problem is that most "Internet Shops" do not allow that, so ask if you can return the machine "if you do not like it because it does not meet your expectations" without any charges. I've seen guys charging 15%-20% of the price just for "repacking and restocking".

I get what u saying and tx so much for the input. I will look into it. There's also no reviews of that tablet that I mentioned. Ive had laptops and android tablets, maybe Im just a bit crazy but I need something compact which has windows on it. I don't really think Im going to use it that much for photoshop, most of the time media and reading and running small programs, Buts will see!!!!

Best bang for buck. Screen is so-so. Can run Photoshop, but it won't be fast...lots of reviews out there mentioning Photoshop.

I actually bought one of these yesterday, and so far I'm VERY impressed. I had a Toshiba Encore 8 for quick small Windows tasks (like Office work on the move, printing labels via a Dymo writer) and missed a proper keyboard (Bluetooth keyboards are only just acceptable, but can get frustrating sometimes).

The Asus betters it in everyway. It is as good as my Ultrabook for typing on, Office works extremely well, Photoshop is as good as on my core2duo 1.8 notebook.

It will run every video file I have tried, and streaming video is faultless. My only criticism so far is that the speakers could be louder and badly designed, why have the speakers on the rear of the tablet portion? They face away in both notebook and tablet mode .

Battery seems very good, first charge yesterday took ages, and from 90% to 100% seemed like it was never going to happen, but once charged it seems to operate fine, I used it for around 5 hours yesterday and then recharged last night with a more normal charge to 100% without any strange behaviour. I have only dropped around 20% in use today, so battery life should be as good as reported.

Any questions about it, post up and I'll try and answer.
