Hi all

My landlady who live in the house next to mine has an ADSL wireless router and has said that I may use it to connect to her account. All I think that I need is a wireless network card.
Is the D-link DWA-110 usb 54mbps sufficient? Do I need to worry about network compatibility or anything like that?

How far is the house from you?

I've always been scared of USB because I'm not sure what type distance it will do realistically. I use a Linksys PCI with antenna that has a pretty far range.

How far away is the house? Signal doesn't carry forever...

Nice landlady, BTW:)

I got a PCI dude with antenna for R180, USB ones are maybe a bit more. Don't pay more than ~R200, IMO.

Uncapped? :D

Signal should reach the house next door. I can pick up the vets wireless network which is just up the road (using a D-Link DW510 wireless adapter).

They're 2 houses on the same property, so the router is prob about 10-15 meters away. Is it as simple as plugging in and searching for signal?

Aaargh! Vista64 won't let me install it, and there are no functioning 64 bit drivers online.
Please could someone using vista64 recommend me a USB wireless network card urgently.

Thanks so much for all the help.

Are you sure?

Have you gone into the device manager and tried to install the [unknown] network device (has a yellow triangle next to it)? Basically just open it and use the update driver button, then tell Windows to search your CD drive with the driver CD inside.

I tried that with no luck.
I phoned the D-Link guys yesterday morning, and they sent me a link to an ftp site that has the vista64 drivers.
All is working now :)
