Hi

I'm a troubled internet user: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/256360-Cable-Theft-Prevention?p=4466684#post4466684

What I want to know is whats the general consensus on good wireless gaming internet?

I've seen and heard horrible things about Neotel.

What do the majority of you use who are plagued by cable theft\not in adsl-applicable areas?

Any insight would be greatful, wireless-ness is new territory for me and I want to get the best possible experience I can (witch is, lets face it, not going to be a good one?)

Thanks guys!

gg, criminal *******s.

Wireless and gaming is never a good mix imo. I hope you come right...

I've used HSDPA for gaming via my cell phone (VODA and MTN)
You get a ping of about 100ms to local servers.
It worked very well for me; rarely got any disconnects or ping spikes. Ping was rock solid on 100ms all the time.
I've heard that if you use a HSUPA capable modem, you can get your ping to as low as 75ms

I've used iBurst for gaming
Without an external antenna my signal strength is 40%, with: 100%
Their coverage maps showed me to be right on the edge of coverage, yet it works well.
Ping to local servers were 50ms.
It also worked quite well for me; never disconnected and ping spikes were not so often that it becomes a pain in the neck.

So, don't think that wireless is necessarily a bad thing. In cases it worked 100% time better than my ADSL which was plagued by erratic latency AND packet loss on a permanent basis, whereas iBurst and MTN/VODA NEVER gave me any packet loss ever.

People's impressions about wireless is flawed, it works pretty good. What does cause problems is tower congestion, where too many people use a single tower.

Weather has never affected my iBurst or HSDPA connectivity.

But hey, maybe I'm just the lucky one.

Tbh you should stay away from wireless if you intend to game rather go for a fixed line if you can, its also cheaper
