Beta Testers Need for CS:S Tournaments

Greetings all.

After a successful spate of Battlefield 2 Tournaments, we are ready to Beta Test CS:S Tournaments and we need your help!

Server Size: 15 vs 15 (30 players)
Map: de_aztec (session 1) and de_cbble (session 2)
Prize Money: R750 for the winning team (R50 per team member)

There are 2 x tournaments running, 1 at 15:00 and another at 17:00 on 12 February 2006.

Very nice.

Just one thing most cs:s players (ie 90%) dont like map de_dust, map de_dust 2 would probably be a better option, as both teams have a good/equal chance, dust 1 is too ct oriented and they normally end up winning.

ANd um, i don't know anyone that has 14 buddies to make up his cs:s team. usually we travel in 5's??
 
5 aside, anymore is silly. imagine 15 on 15 on Dust... will be more like death match!

*Off topic* anyone been playing CSS Deathmatch on SGS. Most fun I have had in ages.
 
Thanks for the feedback, Justin. We were watching the server performance and the Dust maps seems to be almost consistently full. Its already out there in the public domain, so lets see. If CT wins, it will be the last time we run de_dust :-)

As far as choosing the 15x15, we are testing to see that the server can handle a full 30 player match. Later on we will do smaller clan matches, but we will continue to do bigger grandstand matches...and there individuals and clans can fight together. Although we will look to cater to clans a lot, there will also be many CS:S players that do not belong to formalist clans and will still want to play.

As bosbvok said, this is more a shake-down than anything else, hence it being a beta. We are trying a whole bunch of new things under-the-hood, so the more peeps we got on the servers at anyone time (in a match format), the better we can analyse that these components are working properly under load.

We looked at the CSSDM scene, James, but everytime a new update comes to the source engine, the guy who writes CSSDM has to literally re-write the whole program so it works correctly. :( This doesnt really make it a viable and sustainable option to run, unless the module becomes stable enough that it survives Steam updates.

Until then yes, BRING IT ON! :)

Can you make my life more miserable? That nice server you got there and you want to host Dota and CS on it, what is this world coming 2?
 
15 folks is a heap. I do not even have 15 friends that play games. In fact I get shunned every time I play games on weekends. Maybe if there are any myADSLers we can form a "pickup" team of sorts?
 
Yeah that"s not a bad idea James.
