Beta? what is it

I'm New here. Can you explain what a " beta " download is , why i should take it or not. I'm on Vista. Thanks for your help.

Yes, basically it's using code that is still "in the making"

It's not Beta (heh), rather use a stable.

Alpha is usually first-generation release - for internal testing (and also external testing on a controlled basis).

Beta is second-generation release - for wider consumption and testing.
