Better Software ?

Is there any better connection/monitoring software available ?

For starters, It would be great to :-

1. Show a list of base stations the modem can "see" with signal strength and pick one

2. Be able to see the signal strength when you are connected - maybe you can, but I can't find out how ?

You cannot talk to the modem when its online.
Have you tried MySignal - find it in my sig.

Surely the modem still cominicates back to the PC all of the Info, do you think there will be an API released to query it will its online ?

The modem signal strength is read via a modem command, which is undoable when the modem is connected. So no, no chance of that happening.
