Either MWeb's administrative abilities have become just plain chaotic, or there is a deliberate and highly unethical policy to extend customer contracts further than the agreed duration. Either way, new or existing MWeb users might like to beware.
I recently asked to increase my data bundle from 500MB to 1 GB on my existing MWeb MTN Wireless Broadband package, with the assurance that this would not affect my contract duration. Wrong! At a swoop my contract date was zeroed and put back to another full two years -- in violation of both the contract terms and the sales rep's absolute insistence this would not happen. Weeks of hassling by e-mail and phone convince me this is either policy, or the organisation is unwilling (or unable?) to fix it.
This comes hot on the heels of a chaotic start to the contract when I suddenly saw nearly a thousand rand taken off my bank account by MWeb the first month, a mess for which they eventually apologised though not offering any compensation for the substantial amount I spent in phone calls, and the time, which sorting it out entailed.
Bottom line: Like CellC of old, MWeb is either dysfunctional, or devious. Either way, my own experience suggests customers may like to think twice before signing up.
