Beware of where you put your cloud data

To be honest, that same type of hyped hysteria can be applied to SA clouds as well.

I have my data safely in several clouds and am not worried at all. Its hundreds of times safer in the cloud than on my laptop or any of my devices. Im not paranoid so have all the most important documents safely in a cloud I trust.

Think about Google's cloud. You have GOVERNMENTS (*wave* Hi China!) focusing their efforts on trying to hack Google. They have some of the best infosec engineers working 24/7 on protecting that data. Im ganna go with their infosec security team over my security abilities. Add to that the fact that I live in a criminally overrun country where my stuff often gets stolen. Nothing can beat the safety, security and stability of Google's cloud.

+1.

I don't have any other meaningful information to add, so take ghoti's post and post that for me too :p

Took the words right out of my mouth. +1

Be aware if you host your data with a cloud provider within the USA (EC2, Google, MS etc) access to your data can be obtained by US authorities by using the PATRIOT Act. The hosting provider is not even allowed to notify the client that their data was handed over and is automatically protected against liability.

Your data will only be handed over by Google on a court order, and if you have an American court order against you... RUN!

I'm way to unimportant for the US authorities to spend any time or effort on, so I'll take my chances ;)
