Beware Samsung "win a car" scam

Samsung has warned consumers of a false competition going around to entice consumers to deposit a nominal fee in order to claim a prize of a 2012 Model Ford Fiesta.

It is not a scam. Paid my R4000 release fee and am awaiting delivery.

Suckers.

Samsung shouldn't even have to warn people. How do some people seriously think they've won something if they never entered a competition?

My brother recently won a IPad Mini. Whem they called him he also thought it was a scam of some kind lol. He had forgotten that he had entered by filling in his details on a till slip and dropping it in a box. He nearly lost out because he had wanted to put down the call.

The moment they say you have to deposit money, you should know.

Damn this is crazy, a lot of innocent people will fall for such a scam, good thing Samsung have set the record straight, I'm always getting SMS that I have won money form some competition I did not even enter, it's jungle out there people will do anything to make a quick buck, beware people, ;)

I would listen to a competition winning, but the minute I'd have to part with some of money I'd tell them where to get off.

Our domestic won a TV and DSTV installation from a competition she found in a magazine in a taxi. I helped her complete the (fairly obscure) questions. At the presentation, one of the ladies told her that they only received 7 correct entries. She told the lady that her boss had completed the answers, but was told to shut up about this.

Reminds me of the person who made apple's 10 billionth app download who told apple that she wasn't interest and hung up when they called her and said she won $10,000 for being the 10 billionth app downlaod. Luckily for her an apple executive called back later.

we encourage consumers not to act on receipt of such a letter, despite the authentic look and feel of the documentation

10:1 I'm betting the letter doesn't have an "authentic look and feel" to anyone who isn't completely braindead.

/ Just saying. :p

Anyone who falls for this damn well deserves to get screwed, perhaps that'll jolt them into some intelligence...
