Beware when cancelling ADSL Line

everything is done by phone with telkom. A bit dodgy since anyone with your info can call in and buy a 1 gig account for example and be given the password.
If the person got your ID numeber, home number, street address and mobile they can even call in and ask for your account details.
 
yep, the dsl was the only reason why i had the line...
it seems they give u a hard time if you are canceling outright and not ordering a new line...
so in future, just cancel, order a new line, and cancel that new order after they have deactivated the old line...;)

I see. I cancelled the line and then reapplied for a new line at a later stage once I knew where the line was being installed. So that could be a reason then. I guess it's like if you cancel your line then it's like cancelling your account unless - as you say - you reapply for a new line as well.

you can do some seriaaaaaaas damage if you have those details. Although each time I phone they always throw a curve ball on something to try catch you out.
 
The day I cancel my line, I stop paying them. They can come and ask very nicely, Ive been ripped off enough!

I flat out refused to give them a fax as i have no access to a fax machine, i have a telephone line and DSL line and 2 DSL accounts which i ordered using my cellphone. I refused to budge on the 31st august when i wanted them cancelled until eventually the idiot at the helpdesk accepted it and cancelled everything as well as credited my account..

Dont play nice with these people, if i want to cancel a service, i can. you should to, they dont set the rules and i never signed anything to accept their rules.

If you dont pay you think it takes 30 days to "stop" the service....what a joke. f&ck telkom and there 30 days notice..
 
I have never had worse service and satisfaction from anything in my life, as i have had from Telkom. I'll be more satisfied from having sex with a retard.

The worst of all is holding the line for 50 minutes+ and hearing "All our consultants are currently busy. Please be patient, your call will be answered as soon as the next operator becomes available"........

They phoned me for a survey, and i bluntly refused to rate any of their question more than 1/10.

Use a Speaker Phone. Then I sit back and continue working while you are waiting. Works for me! ;)

Those call backs are irritating. They are bothering too much about the consultant, they must ask me more about service and response times from Telkom themselves! :mad:
 
Alose got screwed in May.... Canceled and everything faxed and the new tennats of the place got a new phone line installed (new number).. I am still being charged for the line access and dsl line...

Tried to sort it out 3 times already....
 
Yip be bloody careful what you do, when you cancel. They took out my main business line when I asked them to cancel the ADSL. It took them 2 weeks to correct and I lost a huge amount of business. I can't even blame that on AA incompetence, because it was not. Where is the snot en trane smiley?

Come down to Somerset West, if you fax the the cancellation, they do it straight away!, not on the date stated!!!
