Bf 2142

Two things, seeing as though I never played BF2, but will almost certainly play 2142 (and make a nice free target for you all):

At 60mb an hour, is a 384k line (unshaped) sufficient?

How tolerant is the community of newbs? I hate the idea of letting a whole team down, and that's why I never played BF2.
 
I'm using a 384K line, I only play on the local servers, it works perfectly, even with two people its ok, so no worries there
 
noobs are everywhere. But its a Smacktard that you dont wanna turn out to be. Dont teamkill for vehicles/fun of it/to show your friends standing behind you while you play.

And wait in the 'queue' ;)

Otherwise its all good BlueCollar :)
 
TK sucks... I play 4v4 random team in WC3 and I've never backstabbed, so I guess I'm good there. Looking forward to playing!

Gave it a spin. Havent played the BF series since bf1942 so it was a bit hectic. Will give more time tho.
 
The reports I've heard so far about 2142 don't get me particularly excited :( I'd rather save the cash for red steel . . . ;)

The demo has it's problems but I'm wondering if it's because of the laggy server. Other than teh lag I'm very optimistic that EA will have a winner..... after the second or third patch. :rolleyes:

seems like the new patch broke more than it fixed :

"Lastly and unfortunately, as of this morning, we've been having serious connection issues to the EA Master server after downloading and installing the first patch for the game, which was released to coincide with 2142's arrival in stores. Firsly, a patch on the first day is never a good sign. Secondly, I can't even play the game long enough to take decent screenshots at this point. This may just be a server issue rather than a client patch issue, but either way it's basically impossible to play the game at the moment. We'll update this article with any changes as we keep trying to play the game and take some screens. "

Got the game over the weekend and spent most of the time playing on the local servers.

I must say, I'm pretty impressed with the overall game play...I can see my real social life taking a back seat for the next few months, as work my way up to one day command a Titan! :D

On a more serious note though...how do I get to hear and participate (talk) with other team members? I spend R450 on a plantronics headset, but dont hear (and obviously cant respond) to any real player battle talk:confused:

ps. during the game installation, I also could not get the mic to respond during the calibration setup
