Bf 2142

Just make yours the same/similar and it should all be kewl.

In the meantime, it's located in your MyDocuments / Battlefield2142 folder.
There's one of reach profile.
Work out which profile is the one you're playing with, and look at it's audio.con.
It's pretty easy to understand.
 
When I join a server and go back to audio controls, my VOIP options are not selected and greyed out (in other words I cannot select it);
Do I need to be part of a sqaud to make use of VOIP? or should I just be able to hear what everyone is saying?

Yes, you have to be in a squad to be able to hear the other players talk and talk back to them.

What you can try, if you still have problems, is alt-tab back to windows and check in your audio controls whether your mic has been muted.

That was a problem in BF2. Are you using onboard sound?

Thanks, will try joining a squad tonite, and see if it works.

And yes, Toxin, I have onboard sound (no dedicated sound card), and use the onboard rear audio jacks for mic and headphone.
 
Joined a squad, could hear everyone in the squad clearly:) , but no-one could hear me :mad:

I alt-tabbed back to windows and checked my audio controls - mic was not muted. It is as if my mic dont exist in the game, but outside the game I can record with it etc

Any suggestions?
 
What if you goto the mic volume adjust setting in controls? You know when you install the game you can set the volume threshold? If the mic works there then you at least know that it is working...
 
MeNez, when I installed the game and got to the battlecommo screen (where you need to calibrate the mic) I did not get any response from the mic.

When I'm in the game and go to audio controls, I see my volume threshold is 0. Maybe that's my problem...lol...will try increasing this tonite.

ps. what should be the optimal threshold?

have already... 5 times...and never get the mic to respond in the battlecommo screen...I noticed this is a problem for others as well in the EA support forum, but no solution given
 
This game is getting on my nerves. Cant play longer than 10 minutes without being disconnected. And dont get me started about the lag...
 
my mic wouldnt work at all either,worked in bf2, theres a whole host of settings for my sound card like dual inputs, ingnore front panel and stuff like that so i uninstalled the sound card and reinstalled it and then tried bf2.. it worked.. tried 2142 and it worked now
 
bf2 for R80 bucks at makro is a much better buy than 2142!
 
This game is chowing 400mb of my cap in 7 hours. Is that normal?
 
Eish, I don't know. Sound like a lot to me. 400 / 7 = 57 MB per hour. What is BF2 = 50 MB per hour?

I cannot really check. Cannot manage more than 2 / 3 min play per time before I get the connection error. The days that I acctually manage more time, I forget to check.
