BF BC2 Crashing / Stalling / Hanging...ARGHHHH

Hi,

Have been playing for months, installed a new GTX460 2 weeks ago, and now the game randomly hangs. In the middle of a fight, standing dead still, 10s after loading, or 40 mins into a Rush, completely random, but everything freezes, and the sound loops a crappy low drone.

I have updated drivers, I have checked temps, i have googled, and i have asked for the blessings of the ancient aliens, but nothing seems to work.


Anyone else having / had this issue, or have any other advice on how to make it more stable? It's really annoying that sometimes i even have to load the game twice, as the first time as soon as I choose a server, it crashes to desktop (which makes me think it ISNT the gfx card). Second time i load i can get onto a server, but then I stand the chance of it hanging any second.

I had a similar problem. Was my brand spanking new Club3D 5870.

Try your old card again (if you still have it) and if it works, then you know it's your new GTX 460.

Let me know if you found the solution. My cousin is having similar issues. His screen will go all white and the game will continue in the background. He can still hear the sound but then he'll have to ctrl+alt+del and close it. Also completely random. Sometimes 1 min in or 1 hour in.

Mine also randomly does this but I've figured out how to 'solve' it. When the screen is white hit 'alt+enter' to switch to window mode, once in window mode hit 'alt+enter' again to go back to full screen mode...this sorts it out for me.

Onboard Realtek HD audio. Disable it in the BIOS and put a decent sound card in, could fix it, worked for me. Are you running Windows 7?
