Who are they?

My financial client, based Stellenbosch, has a position available for Business Intelligence Developer.

What will you do?

The role requires someone who can own the processes and business problems, while at the time ensuring a dynamic and agile environment. Very important is that they are looking for a team player that can manage their own delivery in terms of the requirements of a developer while maintaining excellent relationships. The ideal applicant must have SAS programming background, but also have the desire to push the boundaries using SAS with other technologies, especially Hadoop.
Effectively developing business intelligence back-end systems services, capacity and capability
• Writing original multi-module/complex programs or applies reusable modules
• Obtain Data for ad hoc requests and prepare data for statistical analysis
• Designing and writing Extract, Transform and Load processes to ensure accurate representation of operational source systems’ data
• Testing programs and processes written to ensure that the desired end result is met with a strong emphasis on data quality, accuracy and data management.
• Designing, testing and integrating software modules and resolving programming errors using various debugging tools and techniques
• Conducting impact analysis for proposed changes to or problems with the system
• Preparing technical documentation (e.g., user guides, technical specifications)
• Reviewing business specifications with Business Analysts
• Future development of SAS using and integrating with Hadoop, Map Reduce, Hive and other Apache Hadoop technologies
• Ownership of all initiatives from start to finish

Can you apply?

• Tertiary qualification in Information Technology
• 3+ years SAS in General and experience with:
• SAS Report Writing using ODS
• Preparation of SAS Analytical Base Tables
• Design of ETL processes
• SAS Performance Tuning and Code optimization

Do you have a SAS Certification? Do you have experience with SAS Data Integration Studio and SAS Intelligence Platform/SAS Business Analytics Framework?

Do you have experience with SAS Platform Administration?

Do you have experience with big data and horizontal scaling techniques?

Are you familiar with analytics and transformation, data warehousing, and tools like Apache Hadoop?

Hence my question, as 3+ years seems to indicate mid-level. Then again, this is Western Cape, not Gauteng.

I guesstimate mid-level salaries should be in the order of R25k to R38k pm. That being said, I believe 3+ experience in a specific proprietary technology (SAS) should be valued higher then their offered R25k ~ R30k. But let me not derail the thread with my opinions. Apologies to the OP.
