BI / SQL Developer

So Java is the way to go?

Java + C# = plenty opportunities.

Java- limited jobs above average pay - they are looking for a java master.
C# - Lots of Job - average pay - you can be a 'meh' candidate and still get the job.

Is SQL Developer = DBA ? The terms seem interchangeble depending on who you talk to.

Not sure if there is any future in just being an SQL Developer(non DBA), or even if there is a such a job these days. You usually need a language like java or javascript or c/c++ or c# etc., as well as SQL depending on which DBMS the backend is based. And sometimes not even SQL, because there is often an ORM layer that hides the sql.

BI, on the other hand is something different and more specialised.

Have you tried looking elsewhere for employment?
I would suggest you get into Android dev, there is a huge demand for them and they earn extremely well, higher than us C# devs.Dont go the BI route if you are programming, you will get bored to death.

If you have experience, yes, otherwise not. OP shouldn't waste time going after something he doesn't have experience in.
