'Bible allows incest'

I worked at a soup kitchen once, and the guys who came there for a bite to eat, all understood that they had to pay for the food by listening to the preacher going on about God, before they could eat. They really could not care either way, all they wanted was the food.

And then?

And then?

Point is that daveza is correct, the receiver does not care about what the preacher is rabbiting on about, all he wants is to eat. Religions have this weird idea that they are the only moral one's and they get to decide what morals are. I say do away with these sanctimonious bastards and just do what is needed. They never where a moral group, and certainly are not a moral group now, and I doubt that the future will be any different.

Last night I attended a discussion on Politics and the church, and what I got from that was that the Catholics (it was a catholic meeting) are the ones with the correct idea about what morals are needed to fix the problems in South Africa. Not one mention of any of the other lesser religions, they seemed to considered that their morals would be the best for the country. And I am not getting at the abuse issue, what I mean is religions all think that their own group are the one's who know what is best for everyone, and the rest of us must follow them, or be called obstructionists and negative.

Let the abuse and misunderstanding start.

I'm just looking at this whole thing from a total different perspective.

Let's just put "religion" aside for just a moment. This discussion about the morals etc and the church knowing best and what not is probably an age old discussion. But the thing is people don't know what the word "moral/morals means anymore. People don't want to be told what to do. People don't believe in a code or system that works for everyone. They want what is best for themselves and they want to modify and add to any system in place so it suits them. People will use their opinions as an excuse to do whatever they please.

So I don't believe the church, especially not the Catholic church, will have any influence on people in any case. So don't worry about that one. As for all religions thinking that they are the best for everyone- that is 100% true and apparent, but the thing is- just like there was said about different people's opinions- every religion has the right to believe what they want, but not all of them are equal in terms of what is obviously good for us.

Anyway, don't worry too much for the church influencing morals. It's way too late for that. People can only change when they want to and better the overall situation in the country when they stop looking out for only themselves, which is another thing that is not going to happen.
