Don't forget, we also have a sunflower oil sponsor. To lubricate the cricketing nation...

Dolphins have had zero success since Sunfoil took over. I dont see them renewing.

They're no longer just the Dolphins' principle sponsor. They sponsor test cricket now.

Sunflower oil is the best we could come up with...

Just look at how many kids are at the BBL games. I suspect that all kids get free entrance, clubs get special rates, those within close proximity of the stadium are bombarded with marketing, the series is advertised like crazy on Aussie tele, players are financially incentivised to play an exciting brand of cricket, commentators actually want to be there and have fun at the same time, and they're given the budget to work with by Cricket Australia (with perhaps an allowance given by the ICC as well).

All of these things woo a crowd. None of these things are done locally.

Heck, right now they have Gillie and Ponting commentating together. And they're great.

Another question I have - what has RAM actually done to develop cricket in SA and to increase crowd attendance? Hardly anything in my books. They've taken over existing structures and rebranded them. Our choice of principle sponsor is terrible...

+100.

I know that in Pommie land they also give family discounts. So get dad to come, mom gets a ticket for 40% off the original price and the kids go in for 10% of the original fee. All four still buy drinks etc etc and the stadium is actaully half filled instead of the 100 people that are at the SA games....

I'm an Albie fan too. Think he got shnaaied by CSA. Even heard commentators talking about how he always came in the last 5 or so overs and everyone expected him to save a hopeless situation. Then they shoot him down for his lack of proper runs.

I agree there are plenty of relatively cheap things they can do to boost crowd numbers. The kids getting in free is a biggie and definitely paying for crowd catches. Also advertising and building up hype. I mean if the Super Rugby promoters manage to get me hyped up about a sport I have no real interest in then surely they can do it with the cricket.

The Aussies brought the fun factor which we lost several years ago back.

Here's a New Zealander winning some cash for a more than decent catch:

Wouldn't it be awesome if you could win signed cricket bats from all the players? or even franchise shirts signed?

Even if they gave away a plank with some random names on it would mean more than them doing sweet buggerall to market the Ram Slam.

Sponsors don't want to be associated with corrupt officials.

Surprised that Ram actually came in to sponsor the T20 series.
Surprised CSA manages to get any sponsors.

RamSlam needs [-]strippers[/-] cheerleaders!

RamSlam the strippers???

Cheerleaders. ;)

Super sport coverage seems to be a bit thin this year. The warriors had two televised home matches (one at each grounds) and that's it. Ticket prices aren't bad at either grounds but agree that they should let kids in for free.

Watching Ram games now. We have the most boring commentators in cricket. They are truly pathetic...

Sound off.
Video only.

Then you don't get to hear about Ram's incredible crowd competition. The winner of their Glam Cam gets an iPod Shuffle.

I'm surprised they're not fighting to get in the gates there. Well done, Ram. This epic contribution to cricket will go down in the history books...

All that this commentary amounts to is endless cricketing analysis with 30 second breaks of silence in between. At least that's the case with the dolphins game. There is just no flipping excitement. It's as if the entire commentary team is channeling Trevor Quirk...

At least they have an opinion. The Dolphins game commentators have resorted to describing the crowd consuming ice cream to cool them down. Because it's hot. And when you're hot you need to cool down. And ice cream cools you down. Because its cold. And the crowd must be hot. Because it's hot today.

Followed by endless claptrap cricket analysis that is about as intelligent and interesting as an Adam Sandler movie. It's torturous listening to these morons spend 20 minutes describing the intricate details of the angle of delivery...

I wonder if this isn't a strategy, because this commentary is enough to make me want to attend the games, just so that I'm not subjected to it...
