Everyone hosting VPS's at Slicehost probably already know about their integration with Rackspace's cloud solutions. Of course not everyone is happy about it as it means you are also going to have to deal with Rackspace's control panel, support, etc. Migration will most probably also not be an automated process.

I'd just like to know what other sys admins are planning to do about this, the options are:

1) Move to Linode (if they have enough servers left, I'm guessing at least 25-50% of Slicehost customers will be going there).
2) Move over to Rackspace Cloud.
3) Move to Amazon EC2
4) Perhaps move back to dedicated local servers.

It is a little bit early to decide since Slicehost still need to answer a lot of questions. If anyone would like to discuss options here please do so.

Linky? Slicehost has belonged to Rackspace for a few years now, and Rackspace is known for their excellent support. I don't see the problem?

So I read the letter and a spent some time reading the forums. I think people are overreacting a bit. While the letter is a bit markety and thin on real details, keep in mind it's very advanced noticed - long enough that they don't even have a definite date yet. Not many companies do that.

Rackspace's cloud servers is just as good as Slicehost (it's the same back-end), so I don't see how this is going to be a problem for anyone. What's more, is you can get cloud servers in the UK datacenters too, which Slicehost doesn't provide.
