Just give Eskom the big 36.15% increase. Pretty Please!

And then the 11.81% one the next year (effectively 16.08% compared to today's price, thanks to the big one, and the way consecutive percentage increases work). And then definitely the 9.1% increase the year after (effectively 13.85% compared to today's price)

For an effective grand total of 66.08% over 3 years (at 5% as "normal" inflation that would reasonably have been 10.25%...). That's just perfect! Magical...

The badly thought out co-operation between business and government might seem like a good idea now, but it will quickly turn against them once the reality of the next increase actually hits them in the pocket. The poor will always need free hand outs from Eskom at the paying consumers cost. As a resident user, my best bet remains getting off the grid completely as soon as possible and staying off the grid. For most a quick step is not possible, but you should still be buying and adding to your starter pack as and when you can afford it. Even if you only get your lights off the grid this year, next year you can probably double your panels and batteries etc, etc.

What? First businesses are not allowed to go off grid so how can he have any statistics on that? Second residential solar is already about a quarter of base load. Then there's other sources like gas for cooking that's replaced a large part of Eskom's usage for solar users.

Company I work for has installed 77kw on the roof, they have been trying to disconnect for over a year now, paying R17k just to be connected before usage, but nooooooo.
This drawing or that drawing needs to be in this colour and these lines on the drawing must be dotted, bullshit like that. They are in no hurry to disconnect.
