A home invasion this afternoon in Bryanston ended after the SAPS from Sandon were told about the home invasion and blasted the crap out of the robber's get away car. Two were arrested, unfortunately unharmed, and two remain at large. Three firearms were recovered.

The four black males had invaded a home in the same street late last week and cleaned the home out after holding guns to the heads of a mother and her baby, and assaulting the gardener after having tied him up. Today they had a group of Sandton's finest waiting for them as two of them tried to drive off in a BMW that they had hijacked earlier in the month in Bedfordview. Within 20 minutes of the start of the cowardly attack the cops had responded and were ready.

One of the criminals still at large is wearing a Bafana Bafana shirt but the police are quite confident that he and his fellow scumbag will soon be behind bars along with their accomplices, who were very keen to spill the beans. It was suggested by last week's victimns that the scumbags also have a red BMW.

Well done to SAPS for responding so quickly. And well done to the shooters who proved that you'll stop a BMW if you put enough lead into it.

*sigh* It was only matter of time before someone jumped on this.

Not related to this by any chance Albereth?

Johannesburg - A police spokesperson said a robber was wounded in a shootout with police outside a Bryanston home on Friday.

The police responded to a housebreaking call on Friday afternoon and they spotted a BMW reversing out of a driveway.

"The two men in the car pointed firearms at police... and a shootout ensued."

The car came to a halt and both men attempted to flee on foot but they were arrested. Two firearms were seized.

One of the robbers had been wounded in the foot.

Police said two others, believed to have jumped over a back wall, were still being sought.

Two women were found tied up inside the home.

"So far, we only know that a handbag had been taken," said Cloete.

Exactly that. As for stuff taken - the handbag was recovered but a set of car keys and a wedding band are still missing. They had packed a bag full of stuff - purfumes, some jewelry, some womens' clothing, and a play station. Cops were too quick this time. Woot.

I think they left a crowbar behind.

Well done SAPS - you deserve credit when it's due. well done. we all appreciate ti

Good that the b@stards were caught! well done to the men in blue!

I take it this must have happened in your area? You know a lot more than the media reports.

Yep - one of the people is my SO. And I knew squat about what was happening until the shooting started.

Hey, he could have left out their skin colour. Ever noticed how these security/insurance adverts simulating hijackings use white actors to portray highjackers? :D

Of course every body noticed that. Can you imagine the outcry if the actors where anything als ? ? ?
Well done SAPS ! Well done. However, a criminal in South Africa, should never be described by his/her sex, skin color, age. Is politicaly incorrect . . . WTF :D

Political correctness be damned... the truth shall set us free. A) If they were black, they were black - sensitivity aside - call it like it is. B) It was their decision to become criminals and violently rob the house. It was their choice. No body made them do it. I kind of object that we, the general public, have now to tread lightly around those few individuals who have chosen to give up their right and privilege to be part of society. Throw them in the darkest pit and throw away the key...

Haha I think the whole black male/racism post was a joke? It's normal, even in SA, to give criminals skin colour.

Also, it's the SAPF now.

A head wound... a big, bloody, fatal one. would be preferable to a wound in the foot, but nicely done none the less. Good to see that the boys in blue do enjoy the odd victory.

I say kill the bastards, they willing to kill themselves.
Enigma, these scumbags shot at the officers, the officers have every right to shoot them in the chest!!

This is quite a break through it seems as this gang has been terrorising this part of town for a while.

I really don't care if Ponder was joking or not. I like to think that he raised the fact that I mentioned the race quickly because there are some who would make it about the race and not the crime.

The cops have been fantastic. We've had the call from their trauma unit to offer some counselling support. We found another firearm this morning while looking for the keys - they were here within 10 minutes of us telling them that and the crime scene folk shortly thereafter to secure the evidence and record it all. Scary - there was one up.

We spoke to the neighbour from the road down from us. He had two of the scumbags trying to hide in his property. They jumped through his electic fence like it wasn't there. That's where the one got shot in the leg. And whether you care or not they were both male, both black, and one is 24 years old. Seems all of them are from Alex. Doesn't make all people from Alex criminals, doesn't make all males criminals, doesn't make all blacks criminals - or any combination you might think of.

Spoke to the other neighbours. Two leapt over the wall (and electric fence). That neighbour saw one and was going to pot him with a pellet gun but he had climbed a tree and jumped down into the road - (that was one of those that got caught). Then another one came along and pointed a gun at the neighbour who then retreated and locked himself up and called the security company. That scumbag leapt another wall into yet another neighbour's yard - a firearm was recovered (and a jacket) but the scumbag kept moving from property to property. Still at large. I think that the one that got shot was the one driving the car.

So what do we learn from all this? They follow you. Fortunately the SO is aware and she was suspicious of the car that was following her. She slowed down to let them pass and they did. The car had been hijacked, had false plates and had SA mirror flags - looked 'normal'. Windows were heavily tinted.

They must have run up and stopped the gate from closing completely and then they waited. There is a good chance that they tried to check things out from the next door property.

They pulled their car into the property and closed the gate. not visible from the road.

What they hadn't counted on was people with cell phones. They were seen. The cops were called. The cops aren't all at the FIFA games. In fact, the claim that the WC seems to be reducing crime appears to be false according to the cops. They said that a lots of criminals had assumed that the cops were at the games and that there would be easy pickings. Seems the cops thought this through and are responding hard and fast.

Electric fences don't stop them. I mean they are a deterrent but if someone has motivation they will go straight through it. And you usually don't have adequate security between you and your neighbours. We have an electric fence but they didn't even slow down. The neighbours don't so they just kept going.

Anyway. We're thankful that none of us got hurt - it could have been nasty as there were quite a few people on the property all spread out and the scumbags may have lost it if they tried to round everyone up. As it was I was trying to keep my son inside when the shooting started. Thank goodness my daughter was at piano lessons.

And we're well chuffed with the cops.

And I am pretty sure that the neighbours that were held up last week are able to find some peace knowing that they were caught.
