Aviation executives are increasingly worried that a widening split between the U.S. and Europe will extend the grounding of Boeing Co.’s 737 Max, sowing confusion and fear as regulators work to approve the resumption of commercial flights after two deadly crashes.

Sounding the alarm this week over the increasingly tenuous alliance were Aengus Kelly, who heads the largest global jet lessor, and United Airlines boss Oscar Munoz. Alexandre de Juniac, leader of the biggest airline trade group, said he was “worried and disappointed” by the lack of unity among regulators. Aircraft-financing pioneer Steven Udvar-Hazy called it “uncharted territory.”

Gosh, this whole saga is a mess. I bet every penny the greedy Boeing executives "saved" by rushing out this plane has long since been lost due to the grounding.

1st of many such instances if u ask me (if you look outside airlines you see this happening in other sectors too). Competition makes people do stupid things especially when you can't compete and you have a Trump like attitude.

What will happen when both vanes are faulty? Let the pilots fly the 737 Max the old way and remove the computers. Still more 737 flying every day then Airbus ever built in total.

I think if you remove mcas it won't meet compliance to FAR 25 flight characteristics and the plane won't receive certification.

The plane cant fly without them. Apparently the engine upgrades affected the aircraft's flight characteristics so badly they had to install the computer system to compensate. And then they screwed up the software. Result=dead passengers.

Amazing. And no-one realized that this could be a bad idea ? If the plane cannot fly without using a computer, then really, it should not fly at all.

The plane can fly without mcas, it however does not meet FAR 25 requirements without mcas.

If the plane can't fly without mcas then why can you switch off electrical and autopilot trim (mcas) only leaving full manual trim?

Only three options left :

1. Redesign the plane from the ground up to accommodate the bigger engines safely.
2. Replace the bigger engines with standard engines
3. Give the whole thing to Anakin Skywalker to strip for parts for use in the next tatooine pod racing event.
