Im planning in buying a bigboy scooter (150). Ride it for a year while i save to buy my bwm 650 cash.

Whats the big boy quality like
Will it last that year( i do around 25 km a day commute to work)
What service costs
How is after sales service

Rather get a Suzuki or Honda. Plenty of threads on this. Stick to Japanese models, not Chinese.

BBoy 150 to BMW 650. CASH

Does not compute.

Why not buy a Corsa Lite for R40k, and not be in a death trap daily.

Bigboy is ***.
Motomia is ***.
Jonway is ***.

Stay away from anything Chinese.

If you have to buy a welfare scooter, at least make it Bajaj.

Scooters VISION R13,490

I own a Motomia Java 170cc. (1 1/2y)
Get 26-27km/l, so it has almost paid for itself in fuel savings. Still under it's 2 year warranty, services are about R500-800 every 2500km. No issues with it yet.
Would I buy the Motomia again, probably, at the price for a new scooter it's worth it. a Good 2nd hand Honda/Suzuki would be a better buy.
Just remember that with a scooter you ideally want to be traveling in traffic doing less than 40-60km/h max. The more traffic, the better. Stay off a highway. If you need to use the highway, buy a proper bike that can keep up with traffic. (or a car.)

Scooters are more for riding in and around cities, not highways. Rather go for a 200cc or 250cc roadbike. I've got a 200cc Motomia which has over 55000 km on it. I had no major issues except for the normal chain and sprockets replacing and tyres. Make sure you take it for it's regular service then you know it will look after you.

So i settled on a cbr 250 only to find out the are diacontinued in sa... The cbr 300 should be here next year. Till then got me a honda xt 125. Small cheap and easy. Got one from honda with under 400km for around a 25% discount. Will then trade in on the cbr 300 next year.
