I would say it's very legal. It's illegal for instance for a motorcycle to have its headlight on bright during daytime, but if that makes me more visible....

The law states that forward facing lights of the same class must all be the same colour, and that colour can be white, amber or yellow

Again on the issue of legality headlight colour/covers (for any vehicle)

The wording is a bit daft though (double negative essentially).

If I understand this correctly, this means light from a trailer, not the vehicle itself.

It clearly states that trailers are the exception to the rule

I'm pretty sure this relates to trucks - on older trailers the status of the ABS was not communicated via the vehicle network, so instead of the warning light in the dash, there is a light on the trailer somewhere (sometimes on the front, sometimes on the side)
