Hi All

Iam just trying to find out from all in posession of cellphone contracts with various providers. Are you getting billed for telkim tollfree numbers.

0860 are not toll free numbers. They're sharecall numbers.

+1

With sharecall you only pay for a local call from anywhere in the country and it routes to the main call center. ie. you and the provider are sharing the cost of the call.

0800 is free if the provider pays for the call.

Correct.

Even 0800 numbers aren't free when calling from a cellphone.

I am on a TopUp contract with Cell this year (firsttime), tried calling 0860 number, got message that I must top up my account. Cell C call centre agent told me tha if I want to dial these numbr as well overseas numbers, must first top up.... This does not come off your "free" minutes allocated to you.

On my CellC contract, I think I get charged for calls to 0860xyz.

I have bundled minutes- instead of depleting these @50% rate, CellC seems to just bill me @50%.

IE, I don't use up all free minutes yet am still charged OOB rate for 0860 calls.

At least it looked like that last time I double checked a bill...

Which is BS, IMO.

My company uses a 0860 number they're share-call incoming - you pay half, person calling pays half - no free mins apply

As everyone else sais 0860 is a sharecall number not toll free and even 0800 which is toll free is only toll free for Telkom lines (and mayne 8ta)

This is the one time where MTN contracts (Normal and top up) work out a little beter, because its rand bases and not minute based all calls (or sms's to premium sms services) come out from your alocated airtime, of course they still a rip off this is the little vaseline they give

Thank you people. I almost bit off the head of the callcentre agent over this because Cell C has been ripping me off lately without real explanation.

I feel the same.... I converted from prepaid to Str8 up Topup contract. I was told that the free minutes are to any network..... WRONG. 0800. 0860 0861 numbers are not included. Funny thing is that cellc charges calls to these numbers @ 99c per minute on prepaid. Why not just allow the free minutes too then cause its basically the same price.....

Now i'm paying R100 a month and I sstill need to topup if I need to call a callcenter for example. I have like 5 hours of free minutes that just carried over and I'm not using it so much......

Just visit your Service Provider website and whatever number is listed on their website that says Free call. Those are then the calls you don't pay. 0800, you pay not for free at all. Calling 10111, u pay it isn't free either. Only emergency number that is free to my knowledge is 112 no other number at all.

Correct, the only free numbers are your 112 or your SP customer care numbers like 111 for Vodacom etc...
