Well I've solved the mystery of my Iburst billing headache....

Apart from paying up arrears due to a change in their billing system that failed to debit my account....

When they decided to move everyone's debit orders to the 25th of the month, it was for payment for the following month. If your payment was on, say, the 1st of the month, it was effectively being moved 4 to 7 days earlier, not 24 days later. If, say, you were previously paying on the 1st of the month for the current month and you requested that your debit order remain unchanged, you are now paying on the 1st of the month for the following month, and you will have experienced over the past month or so a double payment, one for the current month and one for the following month.

I think it should have been made clear to subscribers who requested that their billing remain unchanged that this would occur. It just doesn't make sense to pay on the 1st of the month for the follwing month. If cash debited from here on out is for the following month, then it clearly makes sense that debit orders should be taken as close to the end of each month as possible.

So I'm going to unrequest that my debit order be left unchanged. The 25th is certainly preferable. The last business day of the month is even more preferable, but I doubt that I will have that option!
