Last year around June I got an upgrade for my wifes cell phone. I signed the R79 special with a free phone. MTN has been charging me R169 a month since then!

I have lodged numerous calls to MTN but I'm unable to get this sorted out. The closest I got to resolving this was getting a +-R200 refund last year October. I always get the run around, customer care says it's accountings problem once I finally get through to them they tell me it's forwarded to billing. But in the end nothing happens.

I really don't know what to do anymore, the shop where I signed can't help me, the customer care line can't help me. I've now been told to go to MTN head office. So now I must take a day off to sort out MTN's crap. I want to cancel this contract but now I have to pay in even though they owe me about R600.

Does anyone know what I have to do to get this sorted, am I alone in this?

You are not alone in experiencing the richly indifferent attitude of MTN to customer care and management. Welcome to the fight. Do NOT give up. Stick to your guns, make sure you keep records of who you spoke to and when, and the outcome. Get a trouble ticket/reference number each time. Demand to speak with a supervisor if your problem is not resolved, if this does not help demand to speak to a manager. Once you have followed all of these avenues, and allowed a reasonable time for response go to ICASA with all of your complaint history and lay a complaint. That is about all you can do...I am busy doing this myself. I am just unsure if ICASA has the ability to do anything. The ultimate solution is only to leave MTN. Also try Hello Peter - although you may have to wait a while for a response from MTN. If any. Still I think Hello Peter sorta helped, although phoning everyday for two months and demanding action could also have helped to get a partial solution in my case. I am going through it again this month to sort out the latest problems. Being a saint will help too.

I think there are no bosses at MTN. They all on holiday after their fat bonuses.
The CEO got R13M.
