Hi

Please could you help. I had to reset my Netgear 3100SN router and now I can not connect to my ISP. The router connects to Telkom ( Light comes on ) however the connection to Mweb does not happen. I have the correct Username and password as I have copied and retyped the Username and password.

I have taken my old Billion router and I am able to get internet connection. So its not the line and password.

After the factory reset, what setting could be preventing my connection to my ISP.

Thanks

Check the following settings:

VPI 8
VCI 35
Multiplexing LLC-BASED

Only thing I can think of

PPPoE LLC
VPI 8
VCI 35

and ensure that NAT is enabled if you can locate that setting

Not too sure about that particular modem, but on other modems there are a few profiles that can be configured with UN + PW, ensure that the correct one is enabled and the rest are all disabled, or they might be conflicting with each other
Also make sure that

Thats all I can think of that would prevent that.

The VPI 8 & VCI 35 is correct, not sure about the Multiplexing LLC-based. So Mweb is LLC-based.
Sorry guys getting my Modems mixed up. Its Netgear 3700. My old one is a Billion which works fine but too old.

Thanks

As Krillin mentioned also make sure the encapsulation is set to PPPoE.

Just in case your modem set your MTU to something >1500 after the reset; drop it to 1454 - should work with PPPoA connection too.

Hi
Thank you to all for your suggestions , its really appreciated.
Got it working as it was the LLC-based setting, that I had to change. As soon as I changed the setting, the router connected to the ISP. You guys a stars, thanks.
