I'm not sure if I'm in the correct forum:

PROBLEM NO 1

My Billion 400 (Telkom router) stops assigning IP's and will only start re-assign IP's after a reboot - this is repeating itself about 3 to 4 times daily.

I noticed that this started to happen after we had a few power failures recently. Is it a firmware problem?

I noticed that Billion SA do not support the 400 on their Website?

Please tell me what to do?

PROBLEM NO 2
The router and my iPad BlueTooth keyboard is on the same frequency (I think it is 2.4GHz) this cause letters to be repeated when using the keyboard in the router's wireless range.
Is the only solution to get a router that is using the 5 GHz range?

problem 1 - router could be borked maybetry updating firmware if possible or why not statically assign Ip addresses to your devices, set you say your routers IP is 192.168.1.1 set your DC HP (range start) start at say 192.168.1.100 that gives you about 98 ip addresses to assign, so you would assign 192.168.1.10 to your pc and maybe 192.168.1.11 to your ipad etc, (i leave the first 10 free for other routers or repeaters) you only need to know the mac address of the device just google if not sure ow to find this, to set it on your router i think its called fixed host

problem 2 - sure you could buy a new router that would fix problem 1 too but that's a bit expensive not to mention not all your devices might not be 5GHZ compliant or, just change the channel (your is probably 6 change to may 1 or 11) you router broadcasts on. the 2.4GHz range is used by tons of devices like cordless phones, microwaves, car alarms etc, so interference is very possible, though have to admit, only time i have had a problem was once the microwave used to interfere with my old linksys

Thanks Isie,

Problem 1: I use the router also to supply Guests in our guest house with IPs. So I'm not sure, if I go the fixed IP route the router will still assign IPs also automatically whenever a Guest turns up and needs to access my WiFi?

Problem no 2. I've tried to change the channel to both 1 and also 11 but with no positive outcome. I thought maybe somebody have developed a filter/device that can perhaps sort out the problem. I wonder how many other users of Bluetooh keybords have the same experience?

basically it will only statically assign IP addressees that you specify the rest it (I.e your guests) will still dynamically assign.
but you still will have the problem of it having to be rebooted because of not allocating
now that you mentioned guest house, by any chance do you maybe have more devices connected then ip address you have set out? example your dchp server alocated a total of 100 IP and they valid for a few days you have 20 rooms in your B&B with 2 people each thats 40 ip's they check out x next day 40 more people that's 80 IP's used plus say 20 that you and your family use - not srre if this is the problem but maybe the dchp table check how many devices conected.

well the fix they came up with is 5ghz - less crowded.
have to be honest never experienced Bluetooth messing with wifi - maybe try and move the router further away from the bt keyboardkeboard?
