Any comments on this W/less router ?
What coverage distance can I expect in my office with a few walls ?
How does one get billed for VPN Lite if you do not use Telkom as ISP ?
If one buys this from Telkom is it ISP locked ?

The Billion 400G wireless will cover 100m with the line of sight and we cannot predict what kind of signal you will get in your office. The kinds of materials that are used on those walls might reduce the wireless strength signal. You might want to get a wireless repeater or access point that will boost your wireless range and you will that you can have a stable wireless signal.

You can have a different ISP and still use VPN lite but you have to be register with Telkom to use VPN Lite. You can give them a call on 10217 to enquire about their rates. You can also look at their rates here: http://www.telkom.co.za/products_services/vpnlite/downloads/orderform_vpnlite.pdf

The 400G is not ISP locked:)

Allocate Bandwidth

I have the Billion 400G. We are running 2 different small networks. The ports in the back are allocated as follows
1-Server
2-Network-A ( 6 computers )
3-Office Printer
4-Network-B ( 4 computers )

I need to assign Network B with it's own Bandwidth, as it is for a different company that shares office space with us. Their employees are fore ever audio streaming, and kills our ability to get work done.

I know that this router is able to do it, but cant find how to set it up.
Can someone please show me how to do this? This is VERY urgent!

I also need to make sure that Network B cant access any computers on Network A.

Please let me know ASAP!
Thank you

Hi Dominique

would like to know if network B also makes use of the server and the printer.

Allocate bandwidth

Hi Dragonflyer

No, Network B is the network of a company that shares our office. They do not have access to our server, but do have to the printer.

I need to allocalte bandwidth to them, as their network for some reason kills our network's internet connection when they start up. This is rectified by rebooting the router, but it happens everyday, so it needs to be fixed.

Of the two networks, theirs is the small one with only 4 computers, while we have 6.

Hi Dominique

What you can do is create VLAN's on the router. Each of the ports can be set to a separate VLAN. You can put your server and your 6 computers on 1 VLAN, the printer on 1 and the other company on a separate VLAN. Once that is doen you can give your VLAN and the other company's VLAN access to the printer VLAN.

Hi!

Oh YES PLEASE! The guys on Network B Are driving me 100% NUTS I dont know why, But the moment their network starts up, our internet connection Bombs out. This is then only fixed by rebooting the router, which is not right.

quick question. does network B work off your username and password or do they have their own username and password.

Are you refering to the internet connection? if so, then yes, but they do not have access to it. they just start up their computers and off they go.

so they are running of your internet connection. what you can do is get a username and password for that company so they have their own internet connection that runs through your router. that could also resolve the problem. but this type of connection will have to be setup using bridge mode.

We cant do it like that, as the 2 bosses have made an agreement with each other that determains that the share the costs of the connection.

there is also the other option of them getting their own line which will allow more control over usage of the bandwidth. these are just suggestions as i am still trying to get the vlan setup sorted out

got the 400 at home upstairs near the staircase. signal downstairs is good/fair anywhere. upstairs with room door closed, i get about 75% signal.
