i've got a Billion 5102 and so far its working perfectly but I'd like to be able to access my Home PC from the Internet, eg. display a web page.

What do I need to setup to make this possible.

Thanks in advance

I assume you would have to make use of Dynamic DNS first to get your DSL IP available as a domain first.
You will also need to allow inbound HTTP traffic to forward from your router to your machine by changing the NAT settings.
You will also need some kind of web server software running on your machine to serve up webpages.

How exactly to do it? I'm afraid I dont know the technicalities...

you can use DynDNS services they are free and efficient choose your name pwd and url
There is also link to download specific updater software IE : As your ip change it post the new one to DynDNS
My Billion as a DDNS built in, make the job even easier.
if you want to use windows file sharing, it is quite risky as it use a common 137 port which for security reason best to be kept closed to the outside world.
you could setup a miniFTP server or webserver for your purpose (Apache is free). or use on of the commercial soft like Symatec PCanywhere.

hope this is accurate and helped

Okay, I've setup a DynDNS account and put the details into the router, and this works great, and I'm able to hit the router setup page from the WAN.

I then set the router config pages to work off port 8080 because IIS on my PC is using port 80. This works as when I type in for example http://blah.net:8080 it takes me to my router

I also went to my NAT settings, added port 80 and my PC IP as a NAT entry.

I even went so far as to disable my personal firewall.

I can see the website by going to http://127.0.0.1

but trying to get to it by going to http://blah.net:80 doesn't work

AAArgh, this is so frustrating

2 things coming up to my minds.
don't try it from the same IP DynDNS has. IE if you pc is at home try and access it from the office. the first thing you going to hit is the router web. interface.
Create a virtual server on the firewall to direct requests a specified to an internal IP probably 192.168.1.100 if default option on DHCP are used on the billion router ie request to port XXXX incoming forward to 192.168.1.100 internal

BTW as per previous post allowing access to your router from Internet is dangerous. setup up strong password. and still best option and safest is VPN.
you can examine your firewall log and see the amount of port scanning done by fellow saix users and overseas one.
Best to keep open port stealth and ignore any WAN requests. Remenber a ping reply from your IP mean there is something there to look at

It's not currently open to the WAN, it was during testing

The virtual server is setup as many-to-one, I've specified port 80 to be routed to 192.168.1.100 which is a fixed IP of my Home PC

I'll go through all the settings when I get home this evening...there must be something I'm missing...something really small and insignifigant, but essential to getting this to work

a nice little server that works nicely for me is slimserver

http://www.slimdevices.com and download slimserver for your OS version 6 is up a couple of ports to open and you have streaming audio from a to b. easy to setup up and if it works it means that your setup is correct.
XP version start up a service called "slim"
OS X is simplier to configure for me but probably because of Unix platform
