Okay, so I'm trying to figure out what the issue is with my wireless connection to this modem. I've tried two 802.11g cards, both of which do the same thing, although with very different frequency. I have a Dlink-DWL-G502+ card that is pretty pathetic in my opinion (took me eons to find a semi-newish driver to fix the constant mini-hangs it was causing and the link speed flucuates like mad even if i'm 1 meter from the router) and I have a Mecer 802.11g card from work. Both suffer random disconnects from the router, even when the signal is reported by the Windows XP wireless tool as 54mb/s, although the D-Link is far worse. At the time of the disconnection, the 7202G's wireless light goes out.

I've got the latest firmware 1.04c on the modem and have even resorted to running the wireless network with WEP/WPA disabled to try to see if that improves matters without success.

So I'd like to know if anyone else is having problems like this, using this billion router or any other wireless router. I'd like to isolate what exactly is causing the issue here. I'm looking for another wireless card - can anyone recommend one: Netgear, SMC have caught my eye.

Using the Billion 7202G aswell, and so far no problems to date...

I must admit though that I'm not to happy with the routers range...

Im also useing a 7202G, and im quite happy with it, and IMO the range on mine isnt bad at all. One thing that i just noticed was that after i restart it the wireless network light goes out and flashes a few times, comes back on and then flashes again, but stops after about 2 to 3 min.

Same

Have a similar problem, but only when transferring huge files.

Spead increases at first and then network fails and the light on the router goes out. No problem if just surfing or transferring small files

Could not figure it out yet and firmware upgrade did not help :(

I use the Billion at home and have had no problems, though I find wireless in general to be a problem. The Cisco we are running at work will drop signal the minute there is too much traffic and generally only find good results from wireless with one machine connected. The technology needs a lot of work.

As for my Billion the range is good and I use a Mecer wireless card for my dad's pc since his use of the net consists of just internet banking. I myself run a cable which is a lot more stable and apart from it handing every 6- 10 days and needing to be restarted I have had no major issues with it to date. Been running for about 4 months now.
