Could anyone possibly tell me if there is a problem with the Billion 800 vgt loosing sync, I have had Telkom out a number of times and they say my line etc is fine.

I have a 384 line speed, tried a 512 but the line could not handle it so i downgraded back to 384 its been loosing sync since the upgrade and downgrade

Go to Config - WAN - ADSL and click on advanced. It should give you the line settings when the line is synched. Paste them here

Hope i have this right..kind of blonde with these things

You line attenuation seems a little high. How often does the line drop?

It kind of happens randomly but anything from 2-15+ times a day

log a fault with telkom and insist they put your line on test. With attenuation of 40, although not great should easily sustain a 384 line without loss of sync. What is probably happening is you have a dodgy join somewhere on your line and when it gets wet / wind blows or something else happens you loose sync.

Hi and thank you for all the replies

I have had Telkom out about 6-7 times this year and all they do is test the line and reset it saying everything is ok :( The one time they did escalate the problem, 5min after i put the phone down i got a sms saying the fault was resolved  I will try and get them to see to it again .....

go outside and literally cut your line. Seriously thats wat i did and got my line fully replaced. Only could sync at 1mbps now at 4mbps :-):-).

What should attenuation be at?
Haha my hubby said he could go put the wire out and claim he fell off the roof and the first thing to grab was the line :D
