Hey guys,

I am new to this forum, recently got DSL 384 with the Billion 800 VGT.
Got a question for you DSL pros, will the following USB WiFI adapter-
ipTIME WIRELESS USB ADAPTER , COMPLY WITH IEEE802.11G, IEEE802.11B STANDARDS , TRANSMIT SPEED AUTO-NEGOTIATION, UP TO 54M , USB V2.0

be compatible or work OK with the above Router, has anyone got one like it.Im running Ethernet at present, but feel like WIFI is the way forward.
I do not want to spend more than R200 as this will be merely a test for me,to compare Cable to Wireless, thanks in advance.

I have tested the 800VGT router with the Airlive WT-2000USB and I could pick up my wireless just fine. My wireless signal strengh is excellent. Yes it will be compatible with the router.

Thanks t-junction,much appreciated, off to buy then test and mess around.
Got another question though, last nite I moved my router from where it was right by my rig back to the actual Telkom wall socket as I was getting lousy speeds from Saix.
After reconnecting everything, the dsl would not sync, router was flashing green continuously,so I disconnected the telephones and hooked the dsl cable straight into wall socket, problem solved. How could it just stop working with the configuration I had,as it worked before and changed nothing except move router,my telephone line is about 20m long, does that affect speeds as well?
Sorry for the long question, dsl is all new to me.

Why such a long DSL cable? That could cause problems with interference especially if the cable's a bit dogdy.

Your filters might be to blame...or connected the wrong way around. If you can connect directly without phones plugged in it usually means the Digital portion of you signal is getting filtered out.

If you have connected the router by refering to the setup that they show when you play the videos on the installation disc and your line is not syncing, then i suspect that you might be having a faulty splitter. Just make sure you insert the line from Telkom socket into the "in" of the power adapter and your splitter into the "out" of the power adapter.

I have a dsl ine with a billion 800VGT modem. Can someone please tell me how to block the net for explicit or adult material?

Hey Shazco

You Billion 800VGT has the ability to block out sites using the firewall settings. you can always set it up in that section.
