Hi Guys,

Iv had this router for just about over a year now.

I have noticed something abit strange.

Every time I turn the router off an back on again, Mainly because the wireless has hung and that seems the only way to rectify it, I noticed the internal Ip address always changes between 192.168.1.101, 192.168.1.102, 192.168.1.103, 192.168.1.104, and to 192.168.1.105.

I notice this mainly because the games I play require ports to be opened and when I check PFportchecker by Portforward.com, it tells me that the port is not opened. Then I must choose one of the 101-105 ports to open it...

I have saved the configuration to flash over an over again.
If the turning of the router on an off is the issue then why dont I loose the configuration or the username an password.

Kind Regards

DD

Have you defined static IP addresses for your PC on your router?

If you haven't, then your PC's IP address could most definitely change, like you've said, because it just keeps the list of DHCP assigned IP addresses in memory and not in flash, so saving the configuration won't affect this.

MMMMMM could you maybe assist with that.
Maybe a guide on how to do that.

Setting static IPs on the 7300RA is quite tricky and I assume the GRA is the same.
Step 1: Advanced>Configuration>Static ARP: set your PC's IP and MAC address;
Step 2: Advanced>Configuration>LAN>DHCP server: select Fixed host. Add your PC's name, IP address & MAC address;
Step 3: Select return to go back to the DHCP server page. Change the Range start IP to *exclude* your static IPs.
Step 4: Select Apply, Save config, and Restart.
Step 5: Reboot your PC (actually reboot all PCs/devices connected to the 7300).
Step 6: Check the IP address of your PC (ipconfig /all)
Step 7: Check that everything stuck in the 7300: Advanced>Status>ARP Table should have your fixed IPs;
Advanced>Status>DHCP table should only have devices without fixed IP addresses.

Thank you for the guide.
Worked very well.

Ok well i have done most of the wireless Laptops I have an Wireless Desktop's
But when I go to Advanced>Status>DHCP the device it shows is the router i suspect and it shows the PC which the router is connected to but the rest of the wireless connections are not their which is good.

DHCP Table
Leased Table
192.168.1.108 00:23:b4:cd:a3:88 Remains11:49:42
192.168.1.109 00:50:04:51:e5:f2 Remains11:49:58 this one is the wired computer connected to the router.

I do presume iv setup everything correct just want to find out if this is correct or a correction needs to be made?
I presume too I dont have to change anything on the PC's/Laptops TCP/IP properties??

Nope.

Once you've added a static entry for that device's MAC address, you don't have to manually specify an IP address for that device any more. It should remain the same, even after you've rebooted the router.
