I want to get one of the Billion wireless modems, but can't make up my mind. So I need some help from informed forumites?

1 - Does the VOIP modems really work?
2 - Is VOIP difficult to set up?
3 - Can you use it with Skype?
4 - And is it worth paying extra for VOIP (about R700 extra)?
5 - Is VPN really needed, can't it also be done with software?

If you are going to use Skype you don't need the built in VOIP function, I will say it is a nice to have but not necessary, and for the extra price it might not be worth it to you. If you are looking for a nice wireless entry level router I will suggest the Billion 7202GR2 especially if you consider the price. It is a good value router.

I'm leaning toward the 7202 due to the price but if the VOIP can link to Skype and I can receive calls [i.e. phone rings] when my pc is off I might pay more.

Do you perhaps know if it does?

Dont buy the router with build in Voip.

Rather if you want to use skype go for the 7202GR2 and the Dualphone.

If you want to use SIP, eg voipbuster , voipdiscount the again get the 7202GR and a linksys spa3000.

Only 1000 Rand and it's cordless, only crap thing is that it has to be connected to the pc with usb.

But I think I might do that, thanks.

Thanks for your help guys.

I'm going to order the 7202GR2 later today.
