Biodiesel. Are we there yet?

But i think what they were trying to say is anyone could do it with the right equipment, so basically free fuel. And thats a big no no.

That is true.... but then they will just have a bunch of back yard brewers making watered down biofuel.

If anyone wanted to make this on a serious scale they would have to submit to standards and legislation.

Its definitely (one) of the way(s) forward.

Oh ok .... I understand. I guess you will get some of these people here or there .... but trust me .... most people are WAY TO LAZY for that.
Just remember, every 100 litres of biodiesel produced has about 25 litres of glycerine as a waste product. Getting rid of that was a major headache for a friend of mine who made his own biodiesel for a while (not to mention getting the vegetable oil to start the process).

Thats not exactly a useless byproduct.

The Green Diesel okes make soap- I'm not sure what the eventual by-products of that are or how much it needs to be refined etc.

They also use old veg oil only, afaik. IE, nothing new coming from crops grown specifically for bio-diesel.

My buddy had his own restaurant, plus another family member's restaurant, and that did not supply sufficient oil for his own needs.

It is useless if you have to pour it into the sewerage/ground water system. It is highly toxic to aquatic wildlife...

I was talking the other day about this: I use more fuel for my car than I drink/consume in water every day. :erm:
