I want to flash the BIOS of an ASUS P5KPL/VM, so I downloaded a BIOS update, booted into my BIOS, went to the EZ Flash Utility but after I selected the BIOS update and want to update it, I get the following error: File ID not recognized. So I though the update might be wrong so I downloaded 8 different updates for the motherboard but they all give that error message, is there something I'm missing, or is there another way to update the BOIS

Ok, I can flash the BIOS from a flash drive, but I need to go into the BIOS and then go the the EZ-Flash utility to update the BIOS. The reason I want to flash the BIOS is because my mobo died like a week ago, and at the moment I do not have some cash laying around to just buy a new mobo and cpu, so I had this old spare mobo that I will use, as my CPU Intel 2.7Ghz Dual Core E5400 works on the mobo. The thing is when I boot up my pc, I get the following message: "CPU not recognized update BIOS to unleash its full power". So that is the only reason I want to update the BIOS. And I do have the correct updates for my BIOS, but just cannot get them updated.

Maybe you need to update to a 'stepping stone' version (no idea what it's called) that is in between your current version and the latest one.

Have you tried this program?

"Afudos BIOS update tool V2.36" Link

No idea how it works but saw it on the website.
