I gotta say I just dont get the hype of this game, I have looked at the screen shots and watched the clips and I think this game looks really dated (like ps2 dated). I dont get it? Why all the hype around it?

BioShock is the ultimate rarity: not only does it live up to its lofty promise, but exceeds it through simple, old fashioned talent and imagination - not to mention verve, style,class, wit, and sheer bloody-minded ambition. It takes the tired, worn-out FPS genre by the scruff of the neck, reinvents and bend it out of shape in such a breathtaking fashion that it's going to take something very special to top this in the months and years ahead. For a game to be so outstanding in one department is one thing - to manage to tick every single box from graphics to audio to gameplay depth to atmosphere and innovation is pretty much unprecedented. Seriously - if you don't find something to love about BioShock, we'd recommend a trip to the nearest doctor to check if your heart's still beating.

I got perfect 20 20 vision, I just dont think it looks good at all.
I def think Gears of war is better

if you have ever played system shock 2 then you would understand. its not just about the graphics.... BUT (and this is a BIG BUTT)

comparing bioshock to ps2 games is a mortal sin. nothing on the xbox 360 looks as crap as ps2 stuff, unless of course its a ps3 game. seriously, if you think it looks bad then you either need new eyes, monitor, tv, xbox or psychologist.

perhaps, but then again, gears is a pretty impressive comparison! any gaming company would give their left test icicle to produce games of that quality.

i wont be playing this on xbox, but on PC, and i have upgraded already in anticipation :D :D :D gimme gimme gimme!

And how much of the BioShock demo have you played compared to how much Gears of War you have played?

Why do I think it's none of either?

You cannot compare the graphics of BioShock to a PS2 game, it is not even close.

Why are we biased and closed minded?

Bioshock has received 10/10 from virtually all the top gaming review sites... The gameplay looks awesome, the story looks awesome, the graphics are awesome... what is biased about this?

I just think your upset it's not coming to your console of choice. But it is coming to PC so pick up the PC version instead?
 
Abev, that's a pretty big brush you like waving around, when you're the one that just slammed what's probably the biggest evolution in FPS gaming in 10 years!

More importantly this isn't a "360 thing", Bioshock ships for PC as well. Although I must agree I have no idea what they're going on about PS2 for ?!?

The gist is this: Comparing BioShock to Gears is absolutely irrelevant (They're both great games). The glory of Bioshock is not the graphics, or sound or the action. The thing about BioShock is it's cinematic quality. The games not about cheap tricks, cute mini games or body count, it's about immersing you in a world, make you feel you're there, to make you feel for each and every thing it interact with, like a good movie.

There've been a number of comments that BioShock is the first example of games as "High art".

Having said that, the reason it's get 100's across the board is because over and above that. It's also a great looking, kicka$$ shooter ;)

Yes, my mind does get all closed minded when confronted with the best grafix/gameplay/story to hit the gaming scene in a long time. :rolleyes:

You're just angry cause eye_suc pwned yo butt. :D :p

to be honest i have NO idea why ps2 is even mentioned, i just had to comment on it :p

the more i think about it, the more convinced i am that abev simply wanted to get us all upset :D sneaky!

(point of order - yes I do, but I just don't use specsavers ;) )

I think in abev's case he's just looking for a reason not to want a 360, now that he has a PS3. ;)

On the other hand, Bioshock definitely looks like a thinking persons game, it's not a "run and gun" or "hack n slash", so maybe it's not some peoples cup of tea. Hey I still don't get Final fantasy . . .
