Just finished reading the book. I won't give any spoilers but I recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy. It gives some background on the characters that we know will be in the game especially Loghain.

If the writing is anywhere as good as the book we will be very happy.

I hate David Gaider though, thanx to his brilliant writing now after the book its going to be torture waiting for the game to come out.

Ok guys got some info on the release date for SA. I wanted to find out whether we would be getting the two special in game items that some stores are offering for pre orders in the US, so I asked paul at btgames about this.

What did I find out from him is that his info is that the release date is 13 October, we are also getting the collectors and normal editions. Said it should be up on their site by the end of today.

Hopefully that release date is true, most of the international sites are going with 3 October though and BW hasn't released an official release date.

It was already delayed to get a pc and console launch at the same time. PC version is ready , all that's left is porting the console version. I doubt they will delay again. They will have a very tough time justifying it.

Both CE and normal edition is on the BT games site now. I know its preorder and prices are subject to changes but R359 isn't bad for the CE and R315 for the normal one. Lets hope it stays like that.

Box art revealed. This is from the US eastore, it was uploaded to a different site by some of the bioware US forum guys so that others can also see. If you try and access the us ea store it will redirect you to SA eastore and the sa version doesn't even have the game listed yet.

I really like the Dragon logo.

Not trying to be funny, but CE is a waste, even for R50 extra...After NWN 2 I'll never spend an extra cent on a "special" edit or CE.

I only buy CE for games I really am looking forward to or for companies I really like. I really like the witcher CE and the enhanced edition. If BW just include the old style BG manual and cloth map I will be happy.

Official announcement now. So like usual the US gamers get the game on Tuesday while the european gamers(and us) will get the game 3 days later.

It looks like these Bioware guys are on the ball to me. That Dragon Age trailer with the heavy metal music and the blood all over the place is just a gambit to get the dumbs to buy the game. At it’s heart, it’s clear Dragon Age: Origins is going to be a thoughtful RPG in the tradition of Baldur’s Gate. God bless you boys at Bioware and keep ‘em coming.

The most interesting thing about the IGN article was the comments on the visuals of the pc version compared to the xbox 360 version. They seem to think the pc has got quite an advantage. We already know the pc gets the toolset and mods and the consoles don't. Also learned the pc version has 10 quick keys compared to the xbox 360 having only 6. So far it seems that the version to get if you are undecided will be the pc version. Not trying to turn this into a pc vs console debate just merely mention things that I have learned and notice this week which may help those thinking about what version they will get, obviously things can change especially for the console version by October.

BioWare also showed off the Xbox 360 verison of the game for the first time (all the demos to this point have been running on the PC). Obviously, the interface has been tweaked to work with the Xbox 360 controller, but the big news here are the visuals. If you want the best looking version, stick with the PC, as the Xbox 360 version just lacked the razor crisp high-res textures and the sophisticated lighting of the PC game. We're not sure what the PS3 version looks like, as it's still unseen at this point.

It was changed to match with EA's marketing. Can't have one theme for the box and one for the website. I like logo but not the white and red colors for the box or the website.I prefered the darker old website, it was also faster since it didn't use flash.

Some bad news guys. DAO has been slightly delayed. Been pushed back to November 3 for the US and November 6 for europe .

Actually good for me since it means my honors exams are done and I don't have to juggle DAO and studying.
