I am trying to use the BB Bold on BIS, but the download speeds are really terrible. I thought that it was supposed to have been fixed?

It is on 3G, connected to BIS. Speedtest won't even complete.

This is in Centurion/Midrand. What kind of speeds are the rest of the users getting?

Can a Vodacom rep lurking here please comment/PM me?

Thanks.

My speedtest is also very slow....currently in the Midrand area also. Perhaps a tempory problem? VD, you know of any problems regarding GPRS/EDGE/3G in midrand area?

Getting about 33kbps download and 4kbps upload. Cant post it here as my workmail is not working at the mo.

That's pathetic for a 3G (hell, even for a GPRS) phone - and it makes the "free data" thing useless. What is VC doing about this?

I am using EDGE (BB 8310). was getting about 100kbps and upward a few days ago. I dont think this is a permanent issue...might just be a temporary thing. Will try and find out more.

Any idea how's Vodacom's EDGE coverage in JHB in general?

I dont have a life so I just move between home and midrand :-). Midrand where I work I always have EDGE. Cyrildene where i live it switches between EDGE and GPRS every now and again. Signal a bit dodge there though :-)

The rest of Joburg I cant say...dont travel enough :-)

Past midnight now and my speed is still <50kbps, in Sandton now. I would strongly discourage anyone from getting a BB right now if this is indicative of the speeds one can expect.

Interestingly, neither VC data services nor the reps here have anything to say about this :(
