I just had an interesting call with vodacom.
Turns out that on vodacom prepaid if you take bis and choose to have it auto renew, which is the logical option for someone who owns a blackberry, there is absolutely no way for them to deactivate the renewal, and better yet, you as a customer have no way of doing it either. The only way for it to be done is for you to ensure that you have insufficient funds in your account on the dat that it renews and the service will automatically cancel.
SO basically for a low airtime user, like say my mother who uses maybe R80 a month including the BIS who has now decided she no longer wants it as everyone she knows is on whatsapp and that works without BIS anyway and she really does not take advantage of the actual service.
Basically what vodacom needs you to do is use your airtime, even if you don't actually need to, too ensure that you don't have enough money in your account so that you then cannot pay for a service you don't want.
