I am using a 9700 on Vodacom with OS6 (6.0.0.534) but I have been having problems connecting to BIS when using 3G or the 3G&2G network mode selection.

BIS will switch off and on intermittently and I am now forced to use 2G just to have the service connected all the time. But this is frustratingly slow.

I have used 3 different OS 6 builds - 6.0.0.488 DE (Vodafone Germany), 6.0.0.534 (Bell Asia - currently installed) and the official 6.0.0.488 release for VodacomSA from Blackberry themselves. BIS works fine when connected via Wifi and 2G.

The problem starts when using 3G and is the same for me across the OS builds I have used, leaked or official. Has anyone experienced this? Has anyone has success with an earlier build? Care to share your thoughts and theories? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there, I've got OS6.0.0.448 from MTN on my 9700 but I'm using Vodacom, and I don't have have any such issues as you are experiencing.

Do you have only a '2G&3G' and '2G' option? Or do you also have a '3G' option? I don't have the '3G' option but a friend of mine does.

Ja you wouldn't have the same problems since you have better 3G coverage. If not wider, more stable at the very least. But there are pro’s and cons to each network so it’s a matter of preference. Just that I wish I went MTN now lol. The strange thing is that for about a year of running OS5 I never ever encountered this problem.

You should have the '3G,' '2G' and '3G&2G' option. You aren’t really missing out on anything if you have the combo in the menu, but if you are a super geek and still want it there are many generic 6.0.0.448 versions which will have it in. Even the Vodacom/ Vodafone versions will work correctly, bar a few service numbers you may need to add manually.
6.0.0.488 is bloated IMO, I wasn’t happy with it even after considerable shrinking.
