I have Bis on MTN. When I go to bookmarks and I select "google" for example the B logo dissapears next to GPRS. The GPRS is still in bold and not gprs. Does that mean it still is on Bis or has it gone away?

Good morning. The easiest way to see if your BIS is still active is to go to "manage connections" and then select "services status".

Thats perfect. If it said "not connected" then you had a problem and email would not have been coming through. But if it says mobile network then you are sorted. :-)

All the services in Capital Letters is on BIS. (Just remember the B logo must be on the side of 3G, EDGE and GPRS)

The B sign is handset dependant. On the 8310 for example you dont have the B logo. As long as GPRS/EDGE is displayed in CAPS, then you are ok. To confirm you can do the above steps to see for sure that BIS is in deed connected. The B sign will appear on the new devices that is 3G enabled. When 3G signal is used for your BIS/BES then the B sign will be displayed. When it switches back to GPRS/EDGE then the B will not be displayed...but you will still be connected to BES/BIS provided that GPRS/EDGE is displayed in CAPS.

You usually only get the B logo in 3G but you must have a different phone. Did you upgrade recently? Delete the bookmark, manually navigate to the page and save it again as a bookmark - should be back to normal now.

I am using a Blackberry Bold 9000

I had the same problem with my bookmarks for google and this website, I think you are charged for that (when there's no BIS but it's still connecting to the network - it can only be using the MTN/Vodacom connection) but do as I said above, then the bookmarks will work. I don't know why it happens but it happened to me after I upgraded to the newest MTN firmware. I deleted the offending bookmarks, closed the browser, waited for BIS to return (might have to put it on and off again) and then navigated to the pages and saved again, no problems now (I only had this problem for two bookmarks).
There is no B on GPRS or EDGE only on 3G (but as long as everything's in CAPS you're fine)

Ok, so I have redone my book marks. I see that browser identification under each book mark is "auto". Under auto it has "blackberry", firefox etc. Is there a way to make it "blackberry" permanently for all bookmarks or shouldn't I worry. In other words will it always go to BIS or will it go to MTN if it can? I'm just trying to make 100 percent sure that BIS is always the browser and that I don't get billed

My Bold is in repairs so can't confirm. If the choice is between Firefox, IE, and Blackberry then don't worry. If the choice is between Internet Browser and MTN browser then make sure it says Internet Browser (but I don't think you will have to change this. Don't forget to add 'blackberry.net' as your APN in advanced settings (under the phone's general settings) this will make it tougher to connect to MTN APN.
