SOS means the cellphone signal generally, not BIS.

Since when has Bullsh*t Internet Service ever worked as promised?

EDIT: Claymore is correct, when your main carrier is down and they dont have any roaming agreements with others then you can only make SOS calls on other networks (never tried it though)

My friends with BB's have this issue yet I'm on Android, on the same network and in the same area but I have no issues like this where they go hours without any network.

And in my house, the BBs work fine, and iPhones struggle with signal. Things can vary area by area.

My BIS on Vodacom is working perfectly.

SOS means that your phone is not getting any signal. This has nothing to do with BIS.
