hey, i have my sentech modem connected to a PC upstairs, and i connect to the net from my PC using Internet Connection Sharing. could somebody please give me detailed help on how to setup my PC so that i can download torrents from my PC thats using ICS... thanks!

thanks greedyflyza, i got it working with info from that link! i knew i had to forward the ports, wasn't sure how though. thanks again.

You'll need to forward the ports 6881-6900(or whichever ports your BT uses) from the server's pc to the ip address of the machine running BT (often 192.168.*.*), if you don't know how to do this, its under the advanced button around the bottom of the ICS tab. Make a new service called BT or whatever and simply punch in the port number and the IP of the machine, denpending on how many instances you run you'll have to make a new service for each port ie. 6881 for first one and add 1 to the port number for each instance so the second one would be 6882,6883 etc(usually you'll only need 3 or so - 3 simmultanious BT downloads). and if you're running a firewall you'll need to allow outgoing port of 6969 or whatever port the tracker you're connecting to is using.

i noticed something odd. I was getting yellow lights and slow speeds from a particular torrent using the bittornado client (the best IMO) but then I get fairly decent speed with Azureus (which sucks IMO) so beware of this. Your set up may just be fine.

Note - all my other torrents worked normally giving rise to the suspicion.

Tip #2: drop ICS. there are better and more efficient ways of accomplishing the same thing. ICS WILL break on you.

Some port 80 trackers fails to detect your current IP and detects the IP of your proxy instead.
That means no one can connect to u. try to input the ip arguments under advanced settings with bittornado.

Hi All

Where can I find some good torrent links...the places I went to is full of pop-ups. I'm looking for links to some of the latest movies etc.

Thanx

I hate all you people that use torrent's and eat up poor TheRodent's bandwidth, SHAME ON YOU!

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

In theory, since it was not stated beforehand and no limits were placed on the connection (they expressly advertised it as unlimited) we can do with the connection pretty much whatever we want. The periods of slow speeds share the bandwidth and limit you anyway..

what does this mean in Bitcomet (my bittorent client)
why does bitcomet say in logs....Windows XP ICS Status: cannot find working ICS
