Hey All,

I have been with BitCo for about a week now and as many others have said, the internet is great. However I am struggling with port forwarding.

I use port forwarding to view my camera's remotely as well as viewing web interfaces that I host just for myself. I along with 2 other users over in the BitCo review thread has expressed a need for this.

Has any one else got this working? It should be as easy as but it isn't. Since we have public static ip's, it is not necessary for something like dynamic dns but I like my host name so I continued to use that.

1. Using DynDNS I can see that the ip address has been updated correctly as reported by the router as well as the DynDNS website. However I can't ping the host name or router address. I am pretty sure ICMP is enabled but now that I think about it I am not sure. Either way should still be able to actually navigate to the ip.

2. I have also used just the ip address and this also does not work.

3. Having received the ip settings from another support call, I set up my adsl router for bitco. Internet worked fine but port forwarding didn't. Switch the adsl router to 3g failover and port forwarding works.

So this leads me to believe that this is a BitCo network issue or something since I think I have ruled out the hardware on my side.

So has anyone had experience with this and can maybe give some suggestions or something? I know myself and Sparky_ZA would be really grateful, and I am sure that there will be others that would want to know as BitCo grows.

Thanx
Regards
Richard.

PS. I have not contacted support about this yet because I want to make sure that I have done everything on my side first and that I am not doing something stupid.

Contact support, your antenna doesn't get assigned a public IP, you have many hops on their private network before reaching the internet.

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out your setup. So far I know, Bitco is Wireless and all ports are open and they supply you with a router. Where do you connect that 3G failover?

I've seen connections that goes like this: Antenna>Cisco Router (you cannot configure this one)>Linksys Router (this is your Gateway/DHCP and you can configure this one).

So if your 3G failover goes after that, it may be possible there is still one device that require configuration.

I've seen those Linksys using "Tomato Openlinksys", which is simple to configure.

Hello,

@psion - I assumed that since everyone on the BitCo review thread was throwing around public static IP, that that is the IP. But as you say, there may be any hops on their network.

@webtailor - As I said, the 3g is on my old adsl router which I plugged into my network. Either way the config for port forwarding is really simple and straight forward but I think that psion has pointed me in the correct direction and if it is a setup as I now suspect, port forwarding will not work....at least not when configured from my side?

Support here I come.

Question: Did you request the config settings to use your own router? Did you then notify the support guys that you were going to use port X with DynDNS etc.? Did you request them to open up the relevant port for your IP?

Hi Richard,

We will send you a PM with an explanation.
